Susnata Salony

I am an evolutionary ecologist, graduated from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, India in 2019. For my Master’s, I investigated the use of genomic and somatic variations as stable taxonomic characters for the genus Hedychium J.Koenig (Zingiberaceae).

I am broadly interested in the evolution of plant diversity, particularly in high-altitude environments. For my PhD, I would combine extensive field sampling, flow cytometry analyses, ecological experiments, and genomic tools for addressing the evolutionary consequences of whole-genome duplication in mixed-ploidy populations across several flowering plant species.
